In 1878 Silvano Venchi founded his confectionery business in Turin. His tradition still lives on. In 2000 Venchi merged with another traditional Piedmont chocolate maker, Cuba. Cuba specialized in regional recipes, was originally founded by Pietro Cussino, caribbean eastern rums and is particularly reknown for its delious "Rum Cuneesi" chocolates (large chocolates filled with chocolate caribbean eastern rums and rum paste). The history of Cuneesi chocolate is intrinsically linked with local traditions.
